I've never seen swallowtails in such large numbers! Amazing shot!
And if I remember right, these butterflies will often gather at damp sites to obtain salt, a behavior called puddling. Interestingly enough, almost all butterflies that tend to do this are males! So these swallowtails have to be male butterflies; puddling allows them get the salt that they need to pass onto a female when they mate.
